To update the Java Runtime Environment if you already have 1.5...

1. Open the Start Menu and click on Run...




2. Type jpicpl32.cpl in the text box then click OK.




3. The Java Control Panel should appear (it may take a few seconds). Go to the Update tab and click on Update Now.

If the Java Control Panel does not display then you either don't have Java yet or have too old of a version to update using this method. Instead goto the Java Runtime Environment website.
